Privacy Policy

Last updated: 22 May 2026

Receipts ("the app", "we") is published by Lumenly. This privacy policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and your choices. It is written in plain English by design.

What we collect

1. Your receipts and business data

All receipts, OCR text, ATO categorisations, mileage logs, business profile (display name, optional ABN, BAS schedule, GST status) and preferences are stored locally on your device only via Apple SwiftData. We operate no servers that store this data. Lumenly does not have access to it.

2. Camera

The camera is used only to scan paper receipts. Apple VisionKit reads the text directly from the camera feed, on-device. Receipt images you choose to keep are saved on your device; nothing is uploaded. The camera is never used in the background.

3. Photo library

If you choose to import a receipt from your photo library, you pick the photo each time — we never read your library without an explicit selection.

4. Location (optional, off by default)

If you turn on "Tag receipts with location" in Settings, the app will attach the merchant's GPS coordinates to a new receipt for audit-trail purposes. The mileage tracker uses location only while you are recording a trip. Location is stored on your device. We never upload it.

5. ATO category classification

Receipt-category classification runs on Apple's on-device foundation models. Your receipt text never leaves your phone.

6. iCloud sync (optional)

If you turn on the iCloud sync toggle in Settings, your data is replicated through Apple's iCloud private database. This is end-to-end encrypted by Apple. Lumenly never sees it; Apple does not see your content. You can turn iCloud sync off at any time.

7. Diagnostics

If the app crashes, Apple may collect anonymous crash logs to send to us. This is governed by Apple's privacy policy and you control it in iOS Settings → Privacy → Analytics & Improvements.

8. In-app purchases

If you purchase a subscription or one-time unlock, the transaction is processed by Apple's StoreKit. We receive an anonymous transaction receipt — never your payment card or address.

What we don't collect

Third-party providers

Receipts does not send your receipts, OCR text, or category data to any third-party large-language-model provider. All ATO category inference is performed on-device by Apple's foundation models. We do not use Receipt Bank, Dext, or any cloud OCR service.

Children

Receipts is rated 4+ and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children under 13.

Your rights

If you are in the EU/UK, Brazil, India, or California, under GDPR / LGPD / DPDP / CCPA you have the right to know what data we hold about you (which is: nothing personally identifying) and to request deletion. Since we don't hold personal data, there's nothing to delete on our side — uninstalling Receipts removes all your local data.

Changes to this policy

Material changes will be announced in the app's "What's New" section before they take effect.

Not tax advice

Receipts is a record-keeping tool. ATO category suggestions are derived from rules + on-device ML. The user (or their registered tax agent) is responsible for final lodgement. Not affiliated with the Australian Taxation Office.
